Conditions

Most preterm infant need treatment at the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) and most of them need mechanical ventilation. Infants who are treated at the NICU will be at risk of experiencing stress s Massage&#44

Interventions

Each session of massage therapy includes 5 minutes giving tactile stimulation&#44
then followed by giving 5 minutes of kinesthetic stimulation&#44
then ending with 5 minutes of tactile stimulations. Tactile stimulation is carried out in a prone position&#44
with stroking movements using the fingers. Each body part (head&#44
hands and feet) is carried out for 10 seconds&#44
for a total of 5 minutes. Kinesthetic stimulation&#44
the position of the baby in a supine state for a total of 5 minutes. Tactile stimulation is repeated in the prone position. The Massage repeated for 10 days

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Preterm infants with gestational age under 37 weeks (ages are mesured as gestational age, not post-natal age). No need for artificial ventilation Absence of congenital anomalies No feeding of infant for half an hour before the massage.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Infants who were discharged from the hospital until within the tenth days of the study or were critically ill newborn whom received severe invasive procedures within tenth days of intervention or their mothers did not completely adhere to the study protocol were excluded from the study.
