Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1. Permanently employed and contract basis vector control workers under the Ministry of Health who are directly involved in fogging activities in the state of Perak. 2. Vector control workers working in the District Health Office (DHO) of Perak that are directly involved in fogging activities and able to read and understand Bahasa Malaysia.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. Vector control workers with hearing loss as due to other causes besides work such as ear infection, perforated tympanic membrane and other conductive hearing loss conditions. 2. Administrative staff that are not involved in fogging activity.

Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
change in hearing threshold level in decibels baseline (pre-intervention) and 3 month follow up (post-intervention) audiometry testing of bilatera ear

change in knowledge, attitude and practice of the vector control workers towards NIHL baseline (pre-intervention), 1 month post-intervention and 3 month follow up (post-intervention) validated questionnaire
