Conditions

The review of the patient charts revealed that a total of 712 patients underwent an excisional biopsy due to several types of skin lesions.A total of 551 patients with BSNs were included in the study. Benign skin tumours&#44

Interventions

Excisional biopsy was performed in all patients. First of all&#44
the hair in the area of operation was shaved before the operation. Then&#44
the area of the operation was cleaned with 10% povidone&#45
iodine and was covered with a sterile dressing. After taking the history for any drug reactions&#44
either 40 mg lidocaine HCI or 20 mg prilocaine 2% solution was injected subcutaneously around the lesion. An incision was performed around the lesion with a no: 14 scalpel by exercising care to observ
2 mm distance. The excisional biopsy was performed also in the tissue exercising care again to protect the healthy margins of the lesion. Bleeding control was ensured in the area of the lesion. In the
the subcutaneous tissue was approximated with the single subcutaneous suture technique using a 3&#45
0 polyglactin suture with a round needle. Afterwards&#44
the skin was closed with the primary vertical mattress suturing technique using a sharper needle and a 3&#45
