Interventions

The LCTG will receive additional lumbopelvic control training for 20 to 30 minutes. The lumbopelvic control training includes facilitation of local stabilizers&#44
breathing exercise and global stabilizers. Firstly&#44
the local stabilizers&#44
such as transverse abdominis and multifidus&#44
will be facilitated accompanied with therapists’ instruction to guide the subjects to draw in their abdominal. Therapists would utilize the properties of co&#45
contraction with pelvic floor muscle&#44
asking the subjects to hold their bladder. Therapists can palpate the contraction of transverse abdominis medioinferior to the anterior superior iliac spine in supine position&#44
while multifidus can be facilitated in the same way and can be obviously palpated adjacent to the spinous process of the lumbar spine&#44
especially in the 4th and the 5th lumbar spine. After the facilitation&#44
the subjects will be asked to keep the lumbar in neutral while challenged in an advanced position&#44
such as squatting or deadlifting. There will be 15 repetitions for 3 sets. On the other hand&#44
the breathing exercise will also be trained due to the diaphragm as the roof of the core and co&#45
contraction with the local stabilizers and thus increasing intra&#45
abdominal pressure. The subjects are asked to lie on the back with lumbar in neutral&#44
hips and knee in 90 degrees&#44
and feet on the wall. Then&#44
with therapists’ hands on the chest wall bilaterally&#44
the subjects inhale with the abdominal popping out&#44
and exhale with lowering the ribs and flattening the abdominal. There will be 15 repetitions for breathing exercise. Global stabilizer training will be the Babycross exercise and the side plank. Baby

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: The inclusion criteria for the subjects with CAI were: having at least one significant ankle sprain associated with inflammatory symptoms; having recurrent sprains at least twice on the same side; having the feelings of giving way in activities at least twice in the past 6 months without any inflammatory symptom; reporting CAIT score <24; aging between 20 to 50; being trained regularly 2 times a week for at least 2 hours each time&#44; or 4 hours a week in total amount; specializing in basketball&#44; football&#44; soccer&#44; volleyball&#44; or running.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: The exclusion criteria were: having an injury history of lower extremities or lower back with inflammatory symptom within the past 3 months; having fracture or surgery history of lower extremities&#44; thoraco&#45;lumbar spine&#44; or rib cage; diagnosed with balance or vestibular disorders; having a concussion in the past 6 months; diagnosed with cardiopulmonary disorder&#44; scoliosis&#44; ankylosing spondylitis&#44; or any other disorders that can affect or alter the function of respiratory system.
