Dental caries prevention for high caries risk patients who had swallowing impairment.

Interventions

Children received a 4 minutes application of fluoride gel with the use of commercial trays. Procedure was performed according to the manufacturer’s instruction&#44
5 ml of fluoride gel was used (2.5 ml each tray). They were sitting with head tilt forward and were instructed not to swallow the gel and saliva during procedure&#44

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: The volunteers were residents of Bangkok, where the municipal water fluoridation is less than 0.3 ppm. The inclusion criteria were (1) good general and dental health (2) 28 permanent teeth (3) not wearing fixed orthodontic appliance or removable denture.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: (1) uncooperative children (2) less than 28 permanent teeth (3) wearing fixed orthodontic appliance or removable denture.
