Conditions

Acute lower respiratory tract infections child bronchitis dietary supplements pneumonia respiratory tract infections zinc

Interventions

Children in the treatment group will given a sachet of 15 mg elemental zinc in form of zinc bis&#45
glycenate which will be dissolved in a glass of water before consumption. Zinc will orally admistered twice a day for 7 days or until discharge from hospital.,Children in placebo group will given plac
colour&#44
and taste. Placebo solution will prepared in a similar manner.

2 Months to 60 Months

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: children admitted to hospital with at least one specific lower respiratory signs: 1. Fast or difficult breathing, chest wall indrawing and/or 2. abnormal findings on pulmonary auscultations (crackles/cre[pitations and/or bronchial breath sounds)

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. children with a history of chronic illness such as chronic cough or chronic pulmonary diseases, asthma or congenital heart diseases 2. children who regularly taking vitamin or mineral supplementations 3. children who had history of any drug allergy
