Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1) Women > 18 years of age&#44; with a normal singleton pregnancy 2) First visit at the hospital will be at 12&#45;16 weeks of gestation 3) Serum ferritin < 30 µg/L

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1) Has gestational diabetes mellitus&#44; pre&#45;eclampsia&#44; and severe anaemia 2) Has haemoglobinopathies 3) Has iron deficiency before pregnancy 4) Has chronic diarrhea&#44; gastrointestinal disorders and/or iron malabsorption 5) Treatment with aspirin 6) Take any other iron or mineral supplements 7) Smoking
