Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: All the patients diagnosed with immature senile cataract having visual impairment requiring surgical intervention and willing to participate during the study period were potentially eligible for inclusion.
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: traumatic cataract, pseudoexfoliation syndrome, conjunctival scarring, significant corneal opacity, glaucoma, uveitis, vitreoretinal pathology, previous intra-–ocular surgery, collagen vascular disease, any active ocular disease, high myopia, age younger than 40 years, preoperative endothelial cell count less than 1,500 cells per square millimetre, or preoperative anterior chamber depth less than 2.5 mm, dry-–eye syndrome, iris neovascularization, or other abnormalities that can cause significant endothelial cell impairment independent of surgery.
