Interventions

single shot epidural anesthesia using an 18 gauge Touhy needle&#44
with the paramedian approach at the T10&#45
11 or T11&#45
12 level. We used a loss of resistance to air technique to confirm placement of needle tip within the epidural space. After the confirmation of needle tip placement&#44
we then administered 0.25% bupivacaine plus 4 mg of morphine with a total volume of 10 ml. All patients were then given general anesthesia. Induction with propofol 1&#45
2mg/kg&#44
intubation with cisatracurium 0.2 mg/kg and maintenance with desflurane plus air in oxygen&#44
and intravenous infusion of cisatracurium (1 mcg/kg/min). No intravenous opioids were administered. ,Induction with propofol 1&#45

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: -Patient schedule for Decompression laminectomy with or with out fusion surgery, 1-3 levels -age 18-80 years -ASA physical status I-III

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: &#45;patient with contraindication to perform epidural block &#45;patient who refuse epidural anesthesia &#45;patient who has allergy to any of drug used in the study &#45; kidney disease with GFR < 30 ml/min/1.73m2
