Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: - Patients at least 18 years of age - Receiving enteral nutrition via tube feeding (nasogastric tube or orogastric tube) - Expected to receive enteral feeding of at least 5 days
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: - Refuse to participate in the study - Hemodynamic instability at the time of enteral tube feeding initiation (a mean arterial pressure (MAP) value less than 50 mmHg, or escalating doses of vasopressor/inotropic agent(s) requirement to maintain a MAP value more than 50 mmHgwithin 24 hours) - Impossibility to use the gastrointestinal tract (hemorrhage, obstruction, severe ileus) - Recent acute pancreatitis (within 2 weeks) or Chronic pancreatitis - Known diarrheal illness causes by pre-existing gastrointestinal pathology (e.g. ulcerative colitis, Crohn's disease, ischemic or infectious colitis) - Enteric fistula - Patients with restricted enteral fluid intake < 1,500 ml/day - Pregnancy - Inability to distinguish between stool and urine during defecation
