The subjects in the experimental biting exercise group were instructed to bite a soft plastic roll for 5 min/day,The subjects were not given plastic rolls.

30 Years to 56 Years

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1) a history of generalized moderate/severe chronic periodontitis, as defined by Armitage (1999) 2) presently in the periodontal maintenance phase 3) upper incisors exhibiting a horizontal bone loss pattern with PTM and no incisal stop.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Patients with allergies, systemic diseases including uncontrolled osteoporosis, or long-term use of cigarettes or medications (e.g. anti-inflammatories, immunosuppressants, bisphosphonates, steroids) were excluded.
