Plantar fasciitis

Interventions

These patients were treated with applications of radial shockwave therapy&#44
always administered by the same physician. The BLT&#45
6000SWT equipment (Picture 1) was used with a low&#45
intensity applicator. Two thousand impulses were applied at frequency of 6 Hz and pressure of 3 bar. The applicator was placed perpendicularly over the insertion of the plantar fascia in the calcaneus
and gel was used to keep the applicator in contact with the skin. The sessions were held once a week&#44
with a total of three sessions.,same as group 1&#44
additional applies RSW to the gastrocnemius muscle at the mid calf.

20 Years to 70 Years

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: • Diagnosis of plantar fasciitis, with clinical start up pain of heel ,tenderness at medial tubercle of calcaneal tuberosity and plantar fascia thickness greater than 4 mm, as assessed using ultrasonography (Sonosite, Bothell, WA 98021 USA) • Age more than 20 years old • Painful symptoms for three months or more • Ability to come to the hospital for evaluation and treatment

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: • using a heart pacemaker or anticoagulant medication • coagulopathy and other musculoskeletal conditions of any etiology with clinical manifestations in the lower limbs and spine • central or peripheral neuropathy • systemic inflammatory disease, associated metabolic and endocrine diseases and psychiatric disorders • previous surgery of the foot • previous fracture of ankle and foot • previous corticosteroid injection at plantar fascia within 3 months
