Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: The inclusion criteria were birth at < 36 weeks gestation&#44; birth weight between 750 to 1&#44;799 g&#44; no use of any kind of medical feeding tube at discharge and residence in Chachoengsao.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Exclusion criteria included severe lung disease&#44; more than or equal to grade III periventricular or intraventricular hemorrhage&#44; severe birth asphyxia and inability of the mothers to communicate in Thai.
