Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
Area under the Stephan curve (AUC) Before intervention (day 1); after 7 days intervention AUC (pH/time) bounded by curve and pH 5.5, after 10% sucrose challenge.,pH recovery time Before intervention (day 1); after 7 days intervention Duration between the two times the Stephan curve touched the horizontal line denoting pH 5.5,Lowest pH Before intervention (day 1); after 7 days intervention Minimum pH observed from the Stephan curve

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
Salivary counts of mutans streptococci bacteria Before intervention (day 1); after 7 days intervention Counts performed using Dentocult SM Strip mutans test kit,Salivary counts of Lactobacillus bacteria Before intervention (day 1); after 7 days intervention Counts performed using Dentocult LB test kit,Cariogram risk assessment Before intervention (day 1); after 7 days intervention Survey; mutans streptococci and Lactobacillus counts; salivary buffer capacity
