Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: The inclusion criteria were smokers or ex-smokers with smoking history ≥10 pack-yrs, aged ≥ 40 years and had no exacerbation > 6 weeks prior to enrollment.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Patients were excluded if they had history of asthma&#44; chronic chest symptoms in those aged <40 years&#44; and concomitant cardiopulmonary diseases and those who were unable to complete questionnaires.
