Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: elective gastrointestinal surgery mild to moderate malnutrition

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: liver surgery serum Cr > 2 diabetes mellitus severe cardiovascular disease blood loss more than 1000 ml complication require intraabdominal surgery

nitrogen balance post operative day1 and 3 nitrogen intake - nitrogen loss

transferrin, prealbumin, blood urea nitrogen before operation, postoperative day1 and day3 serum
