Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1. Adult males and females (aged>18 years at the time of recruitment) 2. Diagnosis of type 2 diabetes mellitus (As diagnosed by doctors at the diabetes clinic and meeting the criteria specified by the WHO (Definition and diagnosis of diabetes mellitus and intermediate hyperglycaemia, WHO, 2006, ISBN 978 92 4 159493 6)

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. Pregnancy 2. Type 1 diabetes 3. Gestational diabetes 4. Patients on haemodyalysis 5. Inability to speak or understand Sinhala 6. Cognitive, hearing or vision impairment
