Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 1. Type II diabetic patients only on diet control. 2. Ability to read and understand Sinhala or English 3. Patients who present to the OPD clinic of the Dravyaguna Vignana Department at the National Hospital of Ayurveda, Borella

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: 1. Type II diabetics below 30 and above 65 years or pregnant and lactating diabetic patients. 2. Type 1 diabetics 3. Patients on any oral hypoglycaemic medication 4. Macro vascular complications (history or documented record of stroke, myocardial infarction or both). 5. Micro vascular complications - confirmed diabetic retinopathy confirmed diabetic nephropathy/ elevated arterial blood pressure/ confirmed kidney failure/ confirmed diabetic neuropathy (as determined by screening prior to recruitment) 6. Patients on insulin. 7. Patients on herbal medications known to have an effect on blood glucose. 8. Patients who refuse consent
