This randomized controlled trial with a parallel model will involve the participation of 30 patients who will be allocated into two groups (n=15) according to the treatment of the wound resulting from
CTR group (n=15): Square “x” suture and manipulation of the laser device in the oral cavity for the same period of time as the test group in order to perform the blinding

Age
18 Years to 60 Years

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Necessity for periodontal surgery for root coverage with the need for a connective tissue graft; lack of previous experience with wound treatment in soft tissue graft donor regions; ability to maintain good oral hygiene; being systemically healthy or have systemic diseases compensated; being between 18 and 60 years old; both genders

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: History of untreated periodontal disease; smoking patients, lack of availability of a subepithelial or free gingival connective tissue graft donor bed; hypersensitivity to any anesthetic; medication or antiseptic product used in surgery; medical limitation for elective surgical procedures; patients undergoing orthodontic treatment and pregnant or lactating women

Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
It can be expected that the use of photobiomodulation will reduce by at least 2 points on the visual analogical scale the pain sensation in relation to the group where the wounds will not be treated by photobiomodulation

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
It can be expected that the use of photobiomodulation reduces the size of lesions in donor areas of the hard palate by at least 20% until the 14th postoperative day in relation to the group where the wounds will not be treated by photobiomodulation
