Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Rotator cuff lesion grades I and II in the Neer classification; both sexes; age from 18 to 70 years; have signed the informed consent form (TCLE); subacromial pain for at least three months; two of the three positive impact tests (Jobe, Hawkins and Neer).

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: History of shoulder dislocation and seizure test for positive displacement; intratendine calcifications of the rotator cuff; presence of a proximal humerus anterior fracture; previous surgery on the shoulder; clinical and imaging diagnosis of total rupture in the shoulder rotator cuff tendon; adhesive capsulitis of the shoulder; acronym type III classification of Bigliani on X-ray; use of corticosteroid infiltrations three months prior to the study; presence of rheumatic and neurological diseases; pregnancy; be performing some type of therapeutic intervention for the shoulder in some other service.

Pain assessment The Analog Visual Pain Scale will be used. The pain level of the study participant will be measured at rest and during shoulder movements. This instrument is able to quantify the pain subjectively, from zero to 10, being zero without any pain and 10 unbearable pain. For the evaluation the researcher will direct the following question to the research participant: "How is your pain now stopped?" And "How is your pain now doing shoulder movements?";Anthropometric Assessment Body mass index (BMI) will be checked by measuring height and body weight. The weight will be measured using a previously calibrated anthropometric scale, the individual being lightly dressed and barefoot. The measurement of height will be made in the same scale through the stadiometer with the barefoot individual, arms extended along the body and in respiratory apnea. Three measurements of height and weight will be made, and the median of these will be recorded. The BMI will be calculated by dividing the weight (in kilograms) by the height (in meters) squared.;Assessment of joint mobility of the shoulder The active and passive movements of flexion, abduction, extension, internal and external rotation will be measured using a universal goniometer.;Assessment of muscle strength Peak muscle strength will be assessed by manual dynamometry. The rotator and deltoid muscle strength will be measured with a manual Chataanooga® push-pull type dynamometer. The peak of maximum voluntary isometric force will be measured at an average arc angle of each movement. The mean of two of the three measures performed will be used as the maximum voluntary isometric contraction (IVCM).;Functional evaluation and quality of life Data on the level of function and disability will be collected using the Functional and Quality of Life questionnaires from the modified UCLA, Constant-Murley scale and the Shoulder Pain and Disability Index (SPADI).;Evaluation of the levels of pro-and anti-inflammatory chemical medi
