Age
8 Years to 12 Years

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Schoolchildren; aged 8 to 12 years; enrolled in the two eligible schools; enrolled in the third, fourth and fifth years of elementary education.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Schoolchildren with cognitive delays selfreported by parents and or teachers who could limit their involvement in activities such as responding to questionnaires; That have motor limitations to participate in physical activities; that are twins; Who are using known medications that influence body weight; Who have known family problems that could affect overall compliance and participation in the Program.

Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
The nutritional profile of all 1003 students will be compared at the beginning and end of the school intervention. The expected result is a greater reduction in the incidence of overweight with statistical significance (p> 0.05) in the experimental group when compared to the control group. The incidence of overweight will be calculated according to the percentage of participants who were not overweight at the start of the study, but who may be overweight at the end of the study period (after 16 months).

MeasureTime frame
Secondary outcomes are expected: improved waist circumference and body fat percentage, ;Improved blood pressure, biochemical variables, obesity-related comorbidities.;Improvements related to behavioral variables (Improvement in the proportion of children motivated to maintain healthy eating habits , Improvement in the proportion of children motivated to maintain physical activity recommendations, improvement in the average quality of life index, increase in the proportion of children with positive body image).
