Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
Evaluate coping with cancer after the inclusion of a spiritual practice/intervention, assessed by the Problem Coping Mode Scale (EMEP). Data collected before the intervention and after 6 sessions of the spiritual intervention (for the experimental group) and in an equal period for the control group. To assess whether there was better coping with the disease because of the intervention, changes in the scores of the EMEP scale were evaluated, comparing them with the scores of the control group. At the end of the study, the intervention group scores were compared to the control group and statistically no differences were observed in the coping score between the groups.

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
Assess the quality of life of a patient undergoing chemotherapy after the inclusion of a spiritual intervention assessed by the Quality of Life Questionnaire of the European Organization for Research and Treatment of Cancer (EORTC-QLQ-30). Data collected before the intervention and after 6 sessions of the spiritual intervention, (for the experimental group) and in an equal period for the control group. To assess whether there was an improvement in the quality of life after the intervention, increases in the quality of life score were evaluated, comparing them with the score of the control group.;Assess the level of hope of patients undergoing chemotherapy after the inclusion of a spiritual intervention assessed by the Herth Hope Scale. Data collected before the intervention and after 6 sessions of the spiritual intervention, (for the experimental group) and in an equal period for the control group. To assess whether there was an improvement in the level of hope after the intervention, increases in the score of the scale used were evaluated, comparing them with the score of the control group.
