Interventions

Intervention Group: 15 participants, supplemented with 6.4 grams per day of beta-alanine (99.9% pure b-alanine
CarnoSyn, NAI, USA), for 28 days, via ingestion of hydroxypropylmethylcellulose slow-absorbing capsules, size 00 , opaque white (DRCaps®, Mexico), 4 times a day, consumed every 3 hours apart. Placebo

Eligibility

Age
18 Years to 40 Years

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Healthy volunteers; both genders; non smokers; age between 18 and 40 years; Crossfit® practitioners who train in the most advanced category of the modality, in which they perform the movements and training loads as prescribed by the trainer (category RX) for at least 3 months.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Vegetarian or vegan volunteers; with use of anti-inflammatory drugs; with the use of anabolic steroids.

Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
Improvement in physical performance, assessed through the number of repetitions during physical exercise (Benchmark Christine) before and after chronic supplementation of beta-alanine in Crossfit® practitioners.

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
Improve muscle recovery by 5% after chronic ß-alanine supplementation, provided by the concentration of the enzyme creatine kinase, in blood collection at the beginning and end of the study.
