The volunteers after evaluation and two weeks of adaptation in the pool will be submitted to sixteen weeks of a training program. 30 individuals will be allocated in the HIIT Group with high-intensity

Age
45 Years to 85 Years

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Volunteers participating in the Vida Ativa extension project at Centro Universitário UNIFIP; who perform aquatic exercise activities; present regular frequency; are aged between 45 to 80 years; who passed underwent blood tests, urine and electrocardiogram; who underwent medical evaluation to perform physical exercises.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Individuals with limitations to perform the initial and final assessment tests; some of the limitations are walking with difficulty, to use orthoses to walk, sequelae of stroke, advanced osteoarthrosis, situations which prevented them from performing the exercise test; use of metal prosthesis or pacemaker that limited the bioimpedance test. Those who had less than 75% of presence in weekly activities, some infection during the study, or who were unable to complete both assessments (initial and final) were discontinued.

It is expected to find improvements in physical fitness in the elderly and middle-aged adults, using physical assessment (endurance test, strength test, and flexibility test) and cardiopulmonary tests (resting heart rate; maximum heart rate; ventilatory oxygen equivalent; Baseline Oxygen Consumption; Maximum Oxygen Consumption; Task Metabolic Equivalent); from the observation of a variation of at least 5% in the pre and post-intervention measurements. ;It is expected to find improvements in biochemical parameters of elderly and middle-aged adults, using biochemical dosages (total cholesterol, HDL and LDL, Fasting Glucose and Percentage of glycated hemoglobin); from the observation of a variation of at least 5% in the pre and post-intervention measurements.
