Age
12 Years to 60 Years

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Absence of systemic diseases; ability to undergo periapical radiographs; active cooperation with treatment; age between 12 and 60 years; carious lesion on occlusal or proximal surfaces of permanent premolars or molars with pulp involvement (Reversible Pulpitis, Irreversible Pulpitis, and Pulp Necrosis); fully developed root apices; deep caries with depth greater than two-thirds of dentin depth on radiographic examination; teeth that can be isolated using a rubber dam

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Use of antibiotics, analgesics, or antifungals before treatment; Moderate or severe periodontitis or furcation involvement; Tooth with vertical root fracture; Pregnant women; Infectious diseases; Severe systemic disease; Mental disorder or failure to cooperate with the procedure

MeasureTime frame
To investigate microorganisms related to Dental Caries with Irreversible Pulpitis and Pulp Necrosis, using Reversible Pulpitis as control, through microbiological analyses, the occurrence of Streptococcus mutans and its serotypes (c, e, f and k) and the presence of genes in Carious Dentin samples from permanent teeth with pulp alterations, and to evaluate correlations between clinical symptoms and diagnosis and bacteria in the deepest layer of Dentinal Caries.

To identify and correlate the bacterial composition (Candida albicans, Streptococcus mutans and total Streptococcus, total microorganisms, Lactobacillus, Prevotella, Propionibacterium and Fusobacterium) in Dentinal Caries lesions at different stages of disease progression with pulp alterations (Reversible Pulpitis, Irreversible Pulpitis and Pulp Necrosis), evaluating potential etiological agents of Dental Caries, through Colony-Forming Unit count and dry weight analyses; to correlate the presence of Streptococcus mutans and its serotypes (c, e, f and k) in Carious Dentin samples with Reversible Pulpitis, Irreversible Pulpitis and Pulp Necrosis in permanent teeth; to evaluate correlations between clinical symptoms and diagnoses and bacteria in the deepest layer of Dentinal Caries.
