Eligibility

Age
9 Years to 35 Years

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Individuals aged 9 to 35 years old, presenting a medical diagnosis of type 1 neurofibromatosis; present auditory thresholds less than or equal to 15 dBHL between 250 and 4000Hz, bilaterally, characterizing audibility thresholds within the normal range; to present type A tympanometric curves, bilaterally, featuring adequate functioning of the middle ear; present Central Auditory Processing Disorder.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Neurofibromatosis type 1 patients with comorbidities such as Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, autism and intellectual disability; perform radiotherapy or chemotherapy that compromises peripheral hearing; the presence of epileptic seizures and epilepsy not controlled by a medical team; present alteration of the middle ear; have previously undergone any format of rehabilitation of central auditory processing.

Describe and compare the effectiveness of different types of training for the rehabilitation of central auditory processing in individuals with Neurofibromatosis Type 1.

MeasureTime frame
Describe and compare the performance of the group that did not receive the therapeutic intervention.;Describe and compare performance between the groups that received the intervention and the group that did not receive therapeutic intervention.;Describe and compare the changes in behavioral performance of central auditory and electrophysiological processing after the intervention and over time, in different types of auditory training: the Acoustically Controlled Auditory Training and Musical Auditory Training.
