Age
45 Years to 70 Years

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Individuals of both sexes; with a clinical diagnosis of systemic arterial hypertension; with controlled blood pressure levels (systolic blood pressure below 190 mmHg and diastolic blood pressure below 120 mmHg); aged between 45 and 70 years; receiving antihypertensive pharmacological therapy; clinically stable and medically cleared to engage in physical activity; who agree to participate and sign the Informed Consent Form

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: History of acute myocardial infarction within the previous six months; unstable angina or severe uncontrolled cardiac arrhythmias; decompensated heart failure; moderate or severe valvular heart disease; orthopedic, neurological, or sensory limitations that prevent the performance of physical exercises or assessment tests; acute alterations in vital signs at the time of assessment

Expected outcome 1: It was expected that hypertensive individuals undergoing a supervised combined training program (aerobic and resistance exercise) would present a significant improvement in functional capacity, assessed by the percentage of predicted distance in the six-minute walk test (%6MWD), after 8 weeks of intervention. ;Found outcome 1: A significant increase in functional capacity was observed in the experimental group after 8 weeks of supervised combined training, evidenced by an increase in the percentage of predicted distance in the six-minute walk test (%6MWD), compared with the control group.

Expected outcome 2: It was expected that the supervised combined training program (aerobic and resistance exercise) would promote a significant increase in peripheral muscle strength, assessed by the one-repetition maximum test (1RM) for shoulder flexion, elbow flexion, and knee extension, after 8 weeks of intervention. ;Found outcome 2: A significant increase in peripheral muscle strength was observed in the experimental group after 8 weeks of supervised combined training, evidenced by improvements in the one-repetition maximum test (1RM) for shoulder flexion, elbow flexion, and knee extension, compared with the control group.
