Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Overweight children between six and nine years old; both sexes; considering the range of Body Mass Index per age between higher or equal to +1 and under +3 z scores of the reference for child growth, according to gender, by WHO 2007.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Children with congenital or hereditary diseases; diagnosis of hypertension; Body Mass Index per age higher or equal to +3 z score of the reference curve, according to gender, by WHO 2007.

Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
Expected primary outcome: Reduction of Body Mass Index (difference of 0.9 kg / m2) in the intervention group, when compared to the control group, considering a significance level of 5% and a statistical power of 80%, with deviations standard of 2.6 for both groups. Body mass index obtained by dividing body weight in kg by the square of height in meters. Data collected at baseline and at the last nutritional counseling.;Observed primary outcome: Body Mass Index (kg/m2) trajectory for the total sample (without separation by groups), using linear mixed effect models. Data collected at all nutritional counseling appointments.

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
Expected secondary outcome: Reduction of 20% of the total calories from ultra-processed foods in the food consumption of children in the intervention group, by comparing the data collected at the baseline and at the last nutritional counseling.;Observed secondary outcome: Trajectory of the percentage of calories from consumption of ultra-processed food for the whole sample (without separation by groups), using linear mixed effect models.
