Interventions

This is a non-randomized clinical trial that consists of three interventions that include: 1.) capsules containing 2 g of corn starch (placebo)
2.) capsules containing 3 g of jabuticaba peel and seed flour (jpsp)
3.) placebo capsule. Experimental design: 64 eutrophic or overweight or obese women or men will consume the capsules mentioned above in the order mentioned. First, volunteers will consume placebo caps

Age
19 Years to 59 Years

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Men and women; body mass index between 18.5 kg/m2 and 40.0 kg/m2; age between 19 and 59 years old

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Pregnant or lactating women; volunteers who have been on a weight loss diet in the last three months; volunteers who have difficulty taking capsules or tablets; volunteers who report food allergies; volunteers who report chronic diseases, especially liver diseases; consumers; alcoholics; routine use or in the last three months of medications, antibiotics, anti-inflammatories, antifungals, probiotics or nutritional supplements

Primary

MeasureTime frame
Increased urinary excretion of ellagitannin metabolites (urolithins) after daily consumption of jaboticaba peel and seed powder for three weeks, assessed by analyzing the concentration of urolithins in urine using high-performance liquid chromatography coupled to mass spectrometry.
