Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Fifteen women will be select to participate in the study; 20 to 40 years old; overweight and with high body fat; basal energy requirements between 1200 to 1500kcal/day.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: chronic diseases; weight and physical activity maintenance; use medication that affects some parameter assessed in the survey; smokers; pregnant or lactating; presence of eating disorders; presence of intestinal disorders; alcoholic.

It was not observed incresed energy expenditure after 1, 2 and 3 hours of coconut oil (1.02; 0.99 e 0.94 kcal/min) and olive oil intake. Also, it was not observed a greater fat oxidation after coconut oil and olive oil intake (42.7 vs 40.8 g/min) respectively. All assessment were realized by indirect calorimetry.

It is expected a decrease in serum inflammatory cytokines (IL-2, IL-4, IL-6, IL-17A, TNF-a) after olive oil intake verified by flow cytometry technique, using the kit Human Th1 / Th2 / Th17 CBA kit from the observation of a significant reduction in the concentrations of these cytokines after 3 hours of eating a meal containig olive oil.;There was no change in serum inflammatory cytokines evaluated over time. There were also no differences between the consumption of coconut oil and olive oil in serum concentrations of these cytokines.
