Age
19 Years to 45 Years

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Both genders; alphabetized individuals; aged between nineteen and forty five; diagnosis of myalgia or myofascial pain with spread or reference; score of at least six on the subjective pain scale

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Individuals with cognitive impairments that prevent them from answering the questionnaires; pregnant women; nursing mothers; people who are using analgesics within the 48 hours prior to the first assessment

Efficacy of lavender essential oil as a treatment adjuvant using the pressure pain threshold in patients with myalgia of the masticatory muscles

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
To assess the effect of the lavender essential oil on the mechanical pain threshold, using monofilaments, based on a variation of at least 5% in the pre- and post-intervention measurements.;To assess the effect of the use of lavender essential oil on anxiety, quality of life, oral behaviors and jaw functional limitations, using the GAD-7, SF-36, OBC and JFL-8 questionnaires, respectively, based on a variation of at least 5% in the pre- and post-intervention measurements;To assess the effect of the use of lavender essential oil on masticatory muscle activity, measured by surface electromyography, based on the finding of a variation of at least 5% in pre- and post-intervention measurements;To assess the effect of lavender essential oil on stress reduction, using the biological marker salivary cortisol, based on a variation of at least 5% in the pre- and post-intervention measurements
