Eligibility

Age
50 Years to 80 Years

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: The inclusion criteria were: age equal to or greater than 50 years; not practicing systematic training in the last 6 months and; have medical clearance for physical exercise.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Individuals were excluded if any disease that could be aggravated by training; muscle or joint limitations; did not reach 85% of the total number of planned sessions.

Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
Evaluate the functional capacity of the elderly, through the tests: Time Up and Go, sit and stand in 30 seconds, elbow flexion in 30 seconds, handgrip strength, flexibility and stair descend test, recording the time performance, number of repetitions and achieved brands.

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
To evaluate the maximum voluntary isometric contraction of the knee extensors, using a manual dynamometer, recording the peak torque values.
