Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Individuals of both genders; Aged 60 years or older; Ability to walk 10 meters, with or without the use of an auxiliary device; Residents of the city of Rio de Janeiro

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Individuals who score =18 on the Mini Mental State Examination; Individuals with neurological or orthopedic conditions that limit the performance of their activities of daily living; Individuals who have any uncontrolled cardiovascular, pulmonary or metabolic diseases, or any other health condition that may interfere with the safe conduct of the study exercise protocol; Individuals with amputations and/or prostheses in the lower limbs

Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
It is expected to find after the intervention, for the experimental group, a significant increase in the average score of the Berg Balance Scale, which measures risk of falls and has a score ranging from 0 to 56 points. A statistically significant difference between pre- and post-intervention values will be considered if the p-value is less than 0.05.

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
It is expected to find after the intervention, for the experimental group, a significant decrease in the average score of the Timed Up and Go test, which measures the time it takes an individual to get up from a chair, walk three meters, return and sit down. if. A time greater than 13.5 seconds to perform the task indicates a risk of falls. A statistically significant difference between pre- and post-intervention values will be considered if the p-value is less than 0.05.;It is expected to find after the intervention, for the experimental group, a significant increase in the mean score of the modified Dynamic Gait Index scale, which measures the gait adaptability and has a score ranging from 0 to 64 points. A statistically significant difference between pre- and post-intervention values will be considered if the p-value is less than 0.05.
