18 Years to No maximum

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Patients aged 18 years or older admitted to the ICU-HU-UFJF during the study period and without evidence of pulmonary infection at admission will be included

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Patients who stayed for less than 5 days in the Intensive Care Unit; patients in whom dental evaluation was not possible; immunosuppressed patients; in palliative care; pregnant women and patients who do not consent or whose closest family member does not consent to participate in the study

Ocurrence of nosocomial pneumonia, defined by the occurrence of new or progressive alveolar infiltrate in the chest X-ray associated with at least two of the following criteria: 1. fever or hypothermia; 2. leukocytosis, leukopenia or presence of more than 10% of immature forms; 3. purulent respiratory secretion

Occurrence of early hospital-acquired pneumonia within the first 5 days of Intensive Care Unit stay ;Intensive Care Unit-free days and 28-day hospital stay;28-day and in-hospital mortality rate
