|---|---|
| As primary endpoints we had the components Low Frequency (component of the low frequency range, 0.04 to 0.15 Hz, modulated by the sympathetic nervous system and by the parasympathetic and also related to the activity of the baroreceptors, with sympathetic dominance); and High Frequency (component of the high frequency range, 0.15 to 0.4 Hz, modulated by the parasympathetic nervous system, linked with respiration and changes in blood pressure). A Polar frequency meter, model RS800CX was used to collect Heart Rate Variability. ECG signal collection (1KHz sample rate) from the RR time series was acquired in the supine position with spontaneous breathing for 10 minutes. Subsequently the data were processed using KUBIOS HRV 2.0 Software (Kuopio, Finland). | — |
Secondary
| Measure | Time frame |
|---|---|
| As a secondary endpoint we had the ratio between the low frequency component and the high frequency component. The Low Frequency / High Frequency ratio reflects the interactions of the sympathetic and parasympathetic system in the autonomic modulation indicating the general autonomic balance. Values greater than 1 indicate the sympathetic domain, while values less than 1 indicate the parasympathetic domain and the value equal to 1 indicates absolute equilibrium. The ratio is obtained by the technique of Heart Rate Variability using appropriate software or by isolated calculation. | — |
