Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: Trained individuals. Male. Aged 18 to 35 years. Minimum of three consecutive years of strength training experience, including the bench press exercise. No use of anabolic hormones during the research period or in the six months prior to the start of the study.
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: Joint, muscle, or bone injuries in the upper limbs. Cardiovascular diseases. Food allergies. Other clinical conditions that might interfere with the execution of the testing protocols. Consumption of supplements or nutritional substances with potential ergogenic effects during the study period.

| It is expected that there will be a difference in muscle swelling between experimental conditions, assessed by means of the muscle thickness of the dominant pectoralis major using ultrasonography (Vinno® Q5-7L, China), with a high-frequency linear transducer (6–16 MHz), configured at 10 MHz, image acquisition rate of 21 Hz, gain ranging from 25 dB to 71 dB, and depth ranging from 2.3 cm to 8 cm. Participants will be positioned supine with shoulders abducted at 90° and externally rotated, with the measurement site standardized at 15% of clavicular length from the sternal end and marked to ensure reproducibility. Muscle thickness will be defined as the perpendicular distance between the superficial muscle–adipose interface and the deep aponeurosis at the level of the third rib, with images analyzed using MuscleXpert software by a blinded evaluator. Muscle swelling will be calculated as the difference between pre- and post-exercise measurements, with assessments performed immediately before and after the exercise session, and values compared between all experimental conditions. | — |

| It is expected that there will be a difference in brachial artery blood flow velocity between experimental conditions, assessed by means of Doppler ultrasonography with participants in a semi-recumbent position (~60° trunk inclination) and the right arm extended, with the probe placed over the brachial artery approximately 9 cm proximal to the medial epicondyle and the measurement site marked for consistency. Measurements will be obtained before supplementation and 60 minutes after beetroot juice ingestion, with values compared between all experimental conditions.;It is expected that there will be no difference in the maximum number of repetitions between the experimental conditions, assessed over four sets of bench press on the Smith machine at 70% of 1RM, performed to voluntary concentric failure or up to 12 repetitions per set, under standardized conditions with cadence controlled by metronome at 60 bpm (2 s eccentric, 1 s concentric) and a 90-second interval between sets, with the values ??compared across all experimental sessions. ;The total volume is not expected to change; the total training volume will be calculated by multiplying the load by the total repetitions (tonnage), derived from the same exercise session data described above, allowing for the evaluation of the total mechanical work performed between the experimental conditions.;It is expected that there will be a difference in the arterial diameter of the brachial artery between the experimental conditions, assessed using the same Doppler ultrasound protocol described above, at the same evaluation times, with the values ??compared between all experimental sessions.;Vascular resistance is expected to differ between experimental conditions; therefore, vascular resistance will be additionally calculated using hemodynamic data derived from Doppler assessments, allowing for the evaluation of peripheral vascular responses across the experimental conditions.;It is also expected that there will be no diffe | — |
