Conditions

Dental carie, Dentin sensitivity. Dental Restoration, Permanent

Interventions

Control group: The tooth will be treated with slightly moist dentin (DU): the excess water will be removed with a cotton ball, the surface will be shiny, as the moisture will be visible. Experimental
KG Sorensen, Barueri, SP, Brazil), for strictly removing carious tissue, bevels or any other preparations will not be performed. Then, phosphoric acid will be applied for 15 seconds in enamel and dent

Eligibility

Age
18 Years to 50 Years

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Patients with good general health will be included in this study; Age: between 18-50 years of age; Good oral hygiene; Present at least 20 teeth under occlusion; At least two carious lesions and / or indication of replacement restoration (fracture, secondary caries, temporary restoration), one in each hemiarco with a minimum depth of 3 mm.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Patients with extremely poor oral hygiene will be excluded; Severe or chronic periodontitis; Severe bruxism; Parafunctional habits; Continuous use of medication that may alter the perception of pain (analgesic, anti-inflammatory); Patient undergoing bleaching treatment; pregnant.

Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
Expected outcome: Number of patients reporting spontaneous pain after the restorative procedure through self-report. This number will be transformed into a percentage of patients with pain and will be termed an absolute risk of dental sensitivity.;The intensity of dental sensitivity will be assessed using the 5-point numerical scale (NRS 0-4) and the VAS analogue visual scale (0-10) and will be presented as mean and standard deviation for 7 days after the restorative treatment.

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
The patient will return 7, 6 and 12 months after the restoration to evaluate the sensitivity caused by air application, vertical percussion, cold and heat stimulation, and the modified USPHS criteria (marginal discoloration, marginal adaptation, retention and recurrence of caries will also be evaluated).
