Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: The only inclusion criterion was that the municipalities participating in the study belonged to the reference area of the Reference Center for Special Immunobiologic Products (RCSIP) of Botucatu, state of Sao Paulo. The municipality of Jahu was chosen as the municipality for implementation of the study intervention by convenience. We used as controls the remaining 69 municipalities belonging to the same RCSIP. Note: The present study used a strict administrative intervention at the ecological level. The sample size described in the previous item refers to an estimate of the population residing in the study areas.

Measure	Time frame
Frequency of vaccination with the 23-valent pneumococcal polysaccharide vaccine per 100,000 adults during the 12 months before and after the start of the intervention. Note: We will obtain all data from administrative sources and the analyses will be performed in the ecological level.	—

- We will compare the profile of the adult population vaccinated with the 23-valent pneumococcal polysaccharide vaccine regarding the following variables: sex, age, clinical indication for vaccination and which healthcare healthcare professional (physician or nurse) indicated the vaccination. Note: We will obtain all data from administrative sources and the analyses will be performed in the ecological level.	—

- We will compare the profile of the adult population vaccinated with the 23-valent pneumococcal polysaccharide vaccine regarding the following variables: sex, age, clinical indication for vaccination and which healthcare healthcare professional (physician or nurse) indicated the vaccination.
