Eligibility

Age
4 Years to 9 Years

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Patients aged between 4 and 9 years; of both sexes; deciduous or mixed dentition stage; early loss of at least one primary molar; and presence of teeth adjacent to the edentulous space

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Those who require space recovery; cases in which the permanent successor is in the eruption stage; enamel defects; as well as those who are not willing to participate or collaborate with the research

Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
The primary outcome for this study will be any change in the mesiodistal width of the edentulous space. To measure the mesiodistal width of the edentulous space, the distance between the midpoint of the marginal ridges of the adjacent dental crowns to the extraction space will be determined.

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
Secondary outcomes will be changes in intermolar width, rotation of the first permanent molar adjacent to the edentulous site, mean cementation failures. The intermolar width will be determined by measuring the linear distance between the tip of the mesiobuccal cusp of the second deciduous molars or right and left first permanent molars. The axial rotation of the first permanent molar adjacent to the edentulous space will be determined by measuring the angle formed by two lines, both lines have their vertex at the tip of the distolingual cusp of the molar, the first line extends to the tip of the mesiolingual cusp, and the second line is drawn towards the median line. The average of cementation failures will be evaluated based on the amount of detachment of the appliances.
