Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Patients with Chronic Kidney Disease - CKD in stages 4 and 5 (Classification of the Brazilian Society of Nephrology), aged 18 years or older; both sexes; who have been undergoing Hemodialysis - HD for more than three months and three times a week

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Resistant and uncooperative patients, who do not have the cognitive conditions to respond to questionnaires and carry out assessments based on the criteria and cut-off points proposed by the Mini Mental State Examination (MMSE) and according to education; who present an unstable clinical condition; neurological diseases; and patients who complete 60% or less of the exercise protocol

Primary

MeasureTime frame
To assess the level of functionality and disability, and the factors that negatively influence the execution of activities of daily living in patients with chronic kidney disease undergoing hemodialysis.

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
To intervene with a physical exercise protocol based on muscle strength training, aerobic training and lung expansion during hemodialysis to optimize venous return and reduce the symptoms of this process. To apply an informative booklet on the exercises to be performed in an out-of-hospital environment. To evaluate the effect of the developed physical therapy protocol on the variables intensity of global and low back pain, respiratory parameters, depressive symptoms, arterial stiffness, fatigue, global strength, muscle strength and functionality. To evaluate whether the interventions were effective in reducing the symptoms of hemodialysis.
