Eligibility

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Kidney transplant patients seeking care at Pedro Ernesto University Hospital; Patients diagnosed with Stage III and IV periodontitis; Patients must have at least 8 teeth in the mouth (excluding third molars);Patients eligible to undergo periodontal treatment without the need for antibiotic prophylaxis; individuals of both sexes and all age groups

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Periodontally healthy patients; patients diagnosed with mild periodontitis

Primary

MeasureTime frame
A reduction in systemic inflammatory markers is expected following periodontal therapy

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
It is expected an improvement in periodontal clinical parameters (probing depth, clinical attachment level, bleeding on probing, plaque index, and periodontal inflamed surface area); Improvement in renal function and systemic inflammation biomarkers (proteinuria, ADMA, SDMA, and cystatin C)
