Physical exercise program: The exercises will be developed in a supervised form with a duration of about 40 minutes each session based on the following protocol: Heating - 5 minutes of treadmill tread

Age
55 Years to 70 Years

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Grade II or III of knee osteoarthritis; female subjects; classified as low active and irregularly active according to criteria established by the International Physical Activity Questionnaire - short version; age between 55 and 70 years; willingness to participate in the treatment plan.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: They have cardiovascular, neurological or musculoskeletal disease that makes them unable to perform the exercise protocol; evidence of secondary, inflammatory or metabolic disease; use of conventional, non-conventional or alternative treatments that may potentially have effects on the results of the study (physiotherapy and / or injections of intra-articular corticosteroid or hyaluronic acid during the last 3 months); symptomatic hip OA; absolute contraindication for laser therapy as the presence of neoplasia in the region of lower limbs; individuals who have malnutrition or morbid obesity.

Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
Decreased pain, verified by the improvement of 3 points in the Numerical Scale of Pain colllected inicial and end of study.

Secondary

Increase in muscle strength, verified by the 30% gain evaluated by the load cell and 1-RM test before and after intervention.;Improvement of postural changes by means of specific software such as normalization of at least 1 degree of the angle Q.;Decreased inflammatory markers and degradation of articular cartilage.;Improvement in quality of life and functionality assessed by the 15-point difference in the WOMAC questionnaire, 4-point difference in the Lequesne questionnaire, 10-second difference in the Timed Up and Go test, 50-meter increase in the 6-minute walk test after 8 weeks of treatment.
