Expected outcome 1: Decreased consumption of standard alcohol doses in the last 30 days, considering a standard dose of alcohol as 12 grams of pure alcohol. The following self-report questions will be asked: In the last 30 days, on average, how many doses of alcohol did you drink on the days you drank? How many days did you drink? "; and "In the last 30 days, how many days did you abstinence?" The number of doses is expected to be lower at the end of the study than at the beginning of the study.

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
Expected secondary outcome 1: Beliefs related to alcohol use. The Gross Expectations and Personal Beliefs Inventory of Alcohol (IECPA) will be used. A comparison of the pre and post intervention scores will be performed, and the overall score is expected to be reduced to below 122 points. ;Expected secondary outcome 2: Readiness to change. University of Rhode Island Change Assessment Scale (URICA) and readiness to change rule will be used to evaluate the motivational stage of change. A comparison of pre and post intervention scores will be made. The level of post-intervention readiness to change is expected to reach the level of action or maintenance.;Expected secondary outcome 3: Alcohol use pattern. It will be mesured by Addiction Severity Index 6 (ASI 6), portuguese version. We expect redution on the score of severity index after the intervention.;Expected secondary outcome 4: Work alliance. It will be mesured by Working Alliance Inventory (WAI) that will be used to evaluate the therapeutic relationship between patient and therapist. We expect on fourth session a score indicating the establishment of a therapeutic alliance will be found and that such values will be maintained or increased in sessions 8 and 12.
