Interventions
A total of 108 individuals who meet the eligibility criteria will be divided into three groups according to their metabolic profile: i) MS group (n=36)
ii) NMS group (individuals with one or two isolated metabolic alterations) (n=36)
HEALTHY group (systemically healthy individuals, i.e., no metabolic alterations). Patients will undergo anamnesis, receive prophylaxis and/or supragingival scaling (“cleaning” of all teeth), and oral

Eligibility
Age
18 Years to 70 Years
Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: Volunteers of both genders; presence of at least 15 natural teeth excluding third molars and teeth with indication for extraction; diagnosis of generalized periodontitis stage III grade A or B; 30% of teeth with probing depth and clinical attachment level greater than or equal to 5mm
Exclusion criteria
Exclusion criteria: long-term administration of anti-inflammatory or immunosuppressive medication; periodontal treatment and/or use of antimicrobials in the last 6 months; continuous use of mouthwashes containing antimicrobial agents in the last 6 months; need for prophylactic antibiotic therapy for routine dental procedures; chronic gastrointestinal diseases; extensive prosthetic rehabilitations; tobacco use currently or in the last 5 years; pregnancy and lactation
