Design outcomes
Primary
| Measure | Time frame |
|---|---|
| Expected outcome 1: It is expected to find similar stability of the upper anterior dental alignment between the two types of retainers in the first 6 months post-orthodontic treatment. This finding is expected to be obtained through the comparison of the Little's Irregularity Index of the maxillary anterior teeth;Outcome found 1: The two types of retainers maintained similar stability in the alignment of the maxillary anterior teeth. | — |

| Expected Outcome 2: Similar periodontal health during the first six months post-orthodontic treatment with the 2 types of fixed retainers. This finding is expected to be obtained through the comparison of the following periodontal indices: Plaque Index, Gingival Index, Bleeding on Probing, and Probing Depth.;Outcome found 2: The 2 types of retainers had similar periodontal health 6 months after orthodontic treatment when evaluating the following indices: Plaque Index, Gingival Index, Probing Depth and Bleeding on Probing.;Expected Outcome 3: Similar periodontal health during the first six months post-orthodontic treatment with the 2 types of fixed retainers. This finding is expected to be obtained through the comparison of the following periodontal indices: Plaque Index, Gingival Index, Bleeding on Probing, and Probing Depth.;Outcome found 3: The 2 types of retainers had similar periodontal health 6 months after orthodontic treatment when evaluating the following periodontal Index: Plaque Index, Gingival Index and Probing Depth. The straight retainer group showed 20% more dental surfaces with bleeding on probing than the multistranded retainer group | — |
