Inclusion criteria
Inclusion criteria: 3rd and 4th year undergraduate students in journalism or recent graduates in journalism in 2016 at Faculdade Cásper Líbero. Spontaneously and voluntarily agreeing to participate in the educational intervention.

| Knowledge on healthcare and evidence-based healthcare. Questionnaire applied before the beginning (test A) and after the end (test B) of the intervention. The test will have 20 multiple-choice questions on the following concepts: • General knowledge in health and public health • Evidence-based health knowledge • Search strategy for independent sources of health information • Interpretation of health texts • Bioethics notions The questionnaire will be prepared by the course coordinators, based on questions prepared by the teachers involved in the course. Tests A and B will have the same questions, with different numbering and with alternative answers in different order. Tests A and B will be delivered to participants in person at the time of registration. Test B will also be done in writing on the last day of the course for students participating in the intervention group. Control group participants will be given the opportunity to enroll in a new edition of the course. This group will also be asked to complete quiz B. Tests A and B will be corrected by people not directly involved with the study using a standardized template. The test evaluators will be blind to the participants' identity and therefore will not know which group (intervention or control) they belong to. The minimum and maximum score in this test will be from 0 to 10, respectively. Measurement: Mean test score (1-10) + standard deviation(SD) Timepoint: after the intervention (short-course);Skills on write/produce news about health-related issues This outcome will be assessed through the quality of reports prepared by participants in both groups (intervention and control), before the beginning and after the end of the course. The report may be of multimedia type lasting approximately 5 minutes or 10,000 touches on the theme “evidence-based health”. | Satisfaction in attending the course This outcome will be assessed through a questionnaire designed by the authors specifically for this study, which will be completed by the participants of the intervention group after the last class of the course. The questionnaire will be anonymous. The questionnaire will have a total of 10 questions that will evaluate the following aspects: the physical structure of the course (2 questions), the teachers (2 questions), the content of the course classes (2 questions), the course format (2 questions) and overall student satisfaction with the course (2 questions). At the end of the questionnaire there will be a free field where students can make additional criticisms and suggestions. Answers to this questionnaire will be reviewed by the course organizers. Measurement: Mean test score (0-10) + standard deviation(SD) Timepoint: after the intervention (short-course);Barriers and facilitators identified by teachers and coordinators in conducting the course. This outcome will be assessed by the principal investigator through interviews with each of the teachers at the end of their respective classes, using a semi-structured questionnaire prepared by the study authors. The interviewer will ask the teachers to name what specific difficulties they had to a) prepare each of their classes and b) to present their classes. Then the teachers will be asked about possible facilitating elements that they identified during the process of a) elaboration and b) presentation of the classes. Finally, the interviewer will ask teachers to name possible changes they would make to their classes in future editions of the course that could improve student learning. Course coordinators will also be interviewed at the end of the course by the principal investigator using a semi-structured questionnaire.
