The study will be conducted in the Family Health Units of the micro-region of 4.2 Sanitary District IV in Recife / PE. Initially will be held to raise awareness of Community Health Agents and diabetic
Knowledge about diabetes (T0 and T6) assessed by Diabetes Knowledge Scale (DKN-A)
Attitude for self-care (T0 and T6) measured by ATT-19 - Start and end of the study
Consumption of healthy food (T0 and T6) evaluated by the Healthy Eating Index (HEI) - Beginning and end of the study

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: 202 Persons aged 60 years; both sexes; diagnosis of diabetes mellitus explained in the records of the Family Health Units that make up the MR 4.2 of Recife / PE.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Institutionalized elderly; Handicap; commitment to communication and / or cognition recorded in records; chronic complications in advanced stages (hemodialysis; amaurosis; sequelae of stroke / heart failure; active ulcer or previous amputations of lower limbs); limited mobility that can restrict access to Family Health Unit.

Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
Decrease in glycated hemoglobin levels in the period of 06 months verified by blood dosage based on the statement of change of at least 0.8% in pre and post intervention measurements.

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
Minimum score of 8 points in Diabetes Knowledge Scale (DKN-A) after the intervention; Count minimum of 70 points in the attitude questionnaire about diabetes (ATT-19) post intervention; Score over 100 points indicating a power good quality through the Healthy Eating Index after the intervention; Greater physical activity than 150 min / week post intervention.
