60 Years to 90 Years

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Minimum age of sixty years; diagnosis of Diabetes Mellitus; Being monitored at the basic health unit.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Impossibility to walk to the health unit; impairment of speech and vision.

Expected outcome 1: mean difference in knowledge of the elderly in all essential care with feet of at least 50 points. The outcome was measured before and after the participation of the elderly in the educational intervention through the Pearson chi-square and likelihood ratio tests. ;Outcome found 1: average difference greater than 50 points for knowledge about the following foot care: correct nail cutting (p=0,004), use of a soft towel to dry the feet (p=0,009), areas of the foot that must pass the moisturizing cream (p=0,010), daily hydration of the feet (p=0,016) and footwear material (p=0,041), as determined through the Knowledge Questionnaire about Essential Foot Care at the beginning of the study and at the end of the study.
