Interventions

Study Group: 20 adults with pain in the jaw joint, of both sexes, will receive acupuncture with real penetration in 1 session per week, during 4 sessions, in specific points of the body. Control group

Eligibility

Age
20 Years to 50 Years

Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Adult volunteers; of both genders; age between 20 and 50 years; with pain due to temporomandibular dysfunction of muscular or mixed origin; with or without mouth opening limitation.

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Volunteers with severe trauma or infections in the Temporomandibular Joint; under analgesic and/or anti-inflammatory drugs; pregnant women; fear of needle; under some other type of treatment for temporomandibular joint; edentulous; volunteers using dentures.

MeasureTime frame
It is expected that there will be improvement of the clinical and energetic measurements with the application of the acupuncture protocol for TMD. For this will be carried out evaluations of the pain, mouth opening limitation and measurements of the energy of the acupuncture meridians by the Ryodoraku Method.

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
Identify pattern of energy imbalance of acupuncture meridians in patients with TMD through the RyodoraKu Method.
