Inclusion criteria

Inclusion criteria: Women; aged 18 to 60; behavioral dysphonia

Exclusion criteria

Exclusion criteria: Patients with organic changes of congenital origin; diagnosis of head and neck cancer; history of previous surgery in the head and neck region with impact on the voice; patients with neurological diseases; history of speech therapy in the last six months; history of electrical stimulation in the last six months; thyroid changes; severe heart disease

Design outcomes

Primary

MeasureTime frame
Perceptual-auditory parameters of the voice. The auditory perceptual parameters of the voice were evaluated by three speech therapists specialized in voice using the Visual Analogue Scale (EVA) with a general grade score for sustained emission and another for chained speech;Acoustic parameters of the voice. In the acoustic evaluation, the values of mean fundamental frequency of sustained emission and chained speech, mean chained speech intensity, frequency and intensity disturbance (jitter and shimmer), irregularity, GNE ratio (glottalnoiseexcitation) and HNR noise measure ( harmonic-noise ratio).

Secondary

MeasureTime frame
Self vocal perception, Vocal self-perception was assessed using the Voice Devantage Index - IDV 10 questionnaire.;Electrical activity of supra and infrahyoid muscles Electrical activity was assessed using Surface Electromyography (EMGs).;Superficial temperature of the supra and infrahyoid muscles. The temperature was assessed using Infrared Thermography (TI).
